This is me ....
Hi I'm Janet and am just starting the adventure of gaining a PGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) for post compulsory education so I can actually be called a teacher. Part of the exercise is to create a journal or log where I can reflect on my practice as a teacher and this then goes to form part of my professional development. So I thought the easiest way to do this regularly, is to do it in the form of a blog.
I am a coach and I tutor & mentor coaches as part of the British Canoe Union through Canoe England. I have considered doing a teaching qualification several times through my life, but something else has always come up. I have dabbled in tutoring mathematics, as I get it and understand that others don't! So now my aim is to be in a position to teach maths to those who need it as well as continuing with the canoe coaching and tutoring which I love.
So my question is "Just how different is Teaching from Coaching?" I look forward to the journey to find out, but welcome any views ...
